Spatial Autocorrelation of Exports and R&D Expenditures in Portugal

چکیده

Abstract This article analyzes spatial autocorrelations and the formation of clusters exports, based on research development (R&D) intensity in Portugal. The central idea is that exports show relative interdependence spillover effects among nearby regions a direct relationship with R&D expenditures. It adopts new taxonomy OECD, separating by manufacturing non-manufacturing activities technological intensity. Methodologically, it applied exploratory data analysis (ESDA), using global Moran’s index LISA. results showed presence positive autocorrelation cluster high–high type for Área Metropolitana do Porto Região de Aveiro . There also associated expenditures as well regional pattern outcome can be explained, part, nationally internationally recognized universities centers surrounding region, favoring knowledge spillovers across regions.

Spatial Autocorrelation

Spatial autocorrelation is a method of Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA). The latter set of methods allow for the study and understanding of the spatial distribution and spatial structure as well as they allow for detecting spatial dependence or autocorrelation in spatial data. More specifically, spatial autocorrelation is the correlation between the values of a single variable that is s...

Spatial and Cultural Autocorrelation in International Datasets

Positive autocorrelation implies that proximate observations take on similar values. “Proximate” can be defined in many different dimensions. In a cross-section of nations, it can be defined using physical distance, cultural similarity, ecological similarity, or using frequency and intensity of interaction, such as trade relationships or enemy and ally relationships. Autocorrelation of regressi...

Spatial Autocorrelation and Autoregressive Models in Ecology

Recognition and analysis of spatial autocorrelation has defined a new paradigm in ecology. Attention to spatial pattern can lead to insights that would have been otherwise overlooked, while ignoring space may lead to false conclusions about ecological relationships. We used Gaussian spatial autoregressive models, fit with widely available software, to examine breeding habitat relationships for ...

Spatial autocorrelation of ecological phenomena.

Ecological variables often fluctuate synchronously over wide geographical areas, a phenomenon known as spatial autocorrelation or spatial synchrony. Development of statistical approaches designed to test for spatial autocorrelation combined with the increasing accessibility of long-term, large-scale ecological datasets are now making it possible to document the patterns and understand the cause...
